THE CLAWWWWW!

Still waiting for September 1st to roll around to post trip pictures, so here’s a great baby video to tide y’all over. And a tooth update: fangs have been acquired, mood is improved, sleep is more peaceful. Hallelujah! Praise the Tooth Fairy!

Now on to the cuteness… Albeit pre-haircut mullety cuteness.

There’s nothing I can say about The Claw. You must witness The Claw. (act scared, he loves it)

Oh Dear.

This kid is a pack of trouble.

We were at the Home Depot today and had a bottle of Goo Gone in our cart. Nick grabbed it but we thought it was OK because it had a child-proof cap on it — WRONG! That little minx took that cap right off. Thankfully since I’m such a watchful mom and would never dream of letting my precious angel play with an open bottle of toxic chemicals, he only got a little on his hand. We went to the bathroom and washed it right off so no harm done.

Whew. Lesson learned.

Right?

Right!

This evening while I was unpacking from our busy day of shopping I noticed that it had been suspiciously quiet in the Karr house for several minutes. This can only mean one thing: Trouble. Nick had gotten two rolls of toilet paper out of his closet and was sitting in the middle of a giant pile of shredded tissue. Rather unremarkable until I tell you that his closet had a childproof lock on it. Childproof, hah!

Trouble, indeed.

In Which Too Many People Will Bleed

You know how those jaggy little teeth coming in were breaking my heart? How Nick had bloody drool and I almost cried? Well that was nothing.

I know it looks like it, but no I did not pop my kid in the mouth. This morning he was getting up on one of the dining room chairs, slipped and split his lip open. Conveniently in the same spot that he bit a couple days ago so hard there was already a big ugly white patch there.

This is the first relatively traumatic (for me) injury he’s had and I had a moment of utter panic when I saw his mouth filling with blood — there was A LOT of blood. I thought for sure he’d knocked out his bottom teeth, but it looks like the only damage sustained was a fat and bruised lip and a traumatized mommy.

(Continue reading only if you’re prepared to see some bloody evidence, not for those with a weak constitution!)

Whoops! (*Edited)

I am such a loser. Here I go making all these promises about posting cute pictures and telling grand tales of our exotic travels in the heartland, and once again I cannot deliver. You see, I had the best intentions but when I started downloading pictures to Flickr I forgot to changes the sizes and immediately ran myself out of bandwidth.

(Bang head against wall. Stupid, stupid.)

Since I am cheap and will not upgrade to their paid service I have to wait to upload pictures until September 1st. And since I am anal I will not blog about the trip until I have pictures to post as the same time. I must give visual evidence! Otherwise you will never believe me about the deer that tried to eat my dad or Nick’s new fake smile.

If you would like to sneak a peek at the pictures we have them up on our website. I have also put up a few new videos at YouTube. (*I just fixed this link to point to the correct page) Here’s one:

In other news Nick is getting really close to getting those new teeth in. It is 8:15am and he is STILL ASLEEP! Yesterday was hard on him so I think he’s extra tired from all the gnawing and loss of blood. That’s right, I said loss of blood.

Yesterday I walked into the dining room and he was sitting on top of the table (I know, but I’m powerless to stop him) with red drool streaming down his chin and all over his chest (I know, sometimes I should put a shirt on my hillbilly baby). I ran over to pull out whatever it was that was in his mouth but it was blood. BLOOD! Broke a mamma’s heart. Later on he even drooled blood onto my shoulder (see, this is why I wear pajamas so much).

Yeah, OK I Lied

Last night instead of working on uploading all our vacation pictures I spent the evening catching up on reading blogs. Whoops! Tonight I will do better. Either I really am that much of a procrastinator (I am) or this is a clever ploy to get you all to visit my blog daily (it isn’t, but you’re here again and I appreciate that). I really will get to the pictures tonight.

Yesterday Nick had his 15 month check up. I am pleased to report he is holding steady in the 70-75th percentile at 26 pounds and 32 1/2″ in length. He is also the most well behaved child on the face of the planet or at least at our doctor’s office. While the healthcare professionals were present he was absolutely good as gold, platinum even. Now while we were alone in the room with the little monster was a different story, but I digress. Our wonderful pediatrician (who we looooooove) was very impressed with his development and said he has the dexterity of a two year old in his hands. Lucky us, right? Apparently a kid his age shouldn’t have such fine motor skills yet, shouldn’t be able to unscrew the lids on bottles. We thought he was a bit too mischievious and apparently we were right.
