Beasts, Snafu
Our house is very noisy. It has hardwood floors that creak wherever you step, some spots worse than others. Sometimes when I get up in the middle of the night I am like a ninja — I am silent and stealthy. Some nights it is more like a herd of drunken elephants — a herd of drunken elephants that desperately have to pee. Thank goodness the young man is sleeping more soundly these days because last night was definitely the latter. Plus add in the World’s Neediest Cat gluing himself to my ankles and it is a wonder that I can make it to the bathroom and back without killing myself.

Snafu
Let me start out by saying that I hate perfume and all things that smell of synthetic perfume. Now that I have that out of the way on to the story…
While opening the mail today I saw that I had received a catalog that had a small sample of “Bohista by Mark” perfume attached to it. It was lovely packaging and described itself as an “eclectic, earthy blend… mingles ginger lily, magnolia blossom and chocolate essence.” Well that does sound intriguing and rather exotic, so I thought just maybe I would like this one.
I pulled out a little circle that you would tear the top off of, and while doing so saw the warning: AVOID CONTACT WITH EYES. Okay, will do. As I went to open it the top didn’t tear off, it snapped off and shot me DIRECTLY IN THE EYE.
So after flushing it with a ton of water I have a stingy eye, a headache and I smell like gross perfume. On the bright side at least I can still see to type this.
Yup, lesson learned. That will teach me to be open minded!

Family, Snafu, Thing #1
Back in good ‘ol Kansas City that is. We’ve been in Savoy/Champaign/Bloomington, Illinois for the past week visiting family for the Thanksgiving festivities. Much fun was had by all, though I must say we are very glad to be home. Nick was a constant ball of energy — running, dancing, playing, going on walks, mischief-making — you know, the usual. He was on total hyper drive the entire week so by the last couple of days his behavior was really starting to fall apart. When we got home on Sunday night he was so happy he was tearing around the house squeeling with delight and could not stop hugging Griffin. When I put him to bed he just happily snuggled in and fell asleep. What a good kid.
Yeaterday afternoon Nick had his 18-month appointment with his wonderful pediatrician who we all adore. Everything is looking great except we are going to keep an eye on his speech since the little bugger just doesn’t say very much. His doctor wasn’t concerned though because she agreed that he pretty much gets what he wants when he wants it so he hasn’t really needed to say too much yet. So we’ll work with him and then go back in three months to see how things have progressed.
Other than the speech thing all looks perfect. He weighs 33.5 pounds (85th %) and is 27 inches (70th %) tall. He seems bigger. I thought he’d weigh at least 48 pounds by now — the kid is HEAVY! And some good news for the many of you who have shown concern about the turning in of his right foot: totally normal. It is femoral aversion (I think that’s what she said) and goes away by the time they turn two.
That’s all for now. I’ll post some pictures from our trip as soon as I get them uploaded, and tell of our adventures deep in the Midwest. For now I am going to pet Griffin for a while since he is desperately trying to make up for the week of attention that he was denied. I have never met such a needy animal! Also, I need to get cooking for my mom’s birthday dinner tonight. There will be cake, oh yes, there will be cake…

Snafu
Hello All,
How have you been? Things here have been good but very busy. I just wanted to write you a quick note to let you know that I haven’t forgotten about you! I don’t have time to get into it all right now but I’ll do a lot more posting again after Thanksgiving. Happy Holidays!
Love, Katie

Snafu
Mike just looked at me with a very sad look on his face and said:
“I’m so sorry dear, but it finally happened. You have two searches for ‘grandma got boobs’.”
