Too scared for real thoughts today.
This morning Nick pointed at me and said, “Oh no! Spider!” Yeah, it was RIGHT BEHIND MY HEAD. I had to stalk it with several pieces of mail and wait for my chance to strike. Eventually I triumphed, though I remained shaken for the rest of the day.
Which brings me to the rest of the day. Tonight we’re having a bit of the Weather. While I was reading Curious George stories to Nick before bed the Tornado Sirens went off and I FREAKED OUT.
Me: “GET TO THE BASEMENT! HURRYHURRYHURRYHURRY!”
Nick: “…Wha? I need my shoes! I…”
Me: “ZOMG GET TO THE BASEMENT GET TO THE BASEMENT BASEMENT BASEMENT ZOMG!”
Yeah, it took a while to get him into bed after that one. My mom, Bob and their friend that they were out to dinner with all had to come over and cool me the hell out. Seriously though, back to back spider and tornado scares? While I’m all alone with the kids for like, forever?
Isn’t it Sunday yet?

My wife Lynne grew up on the east coast, so the tornado thing really freaks her out.
I remember that Erin used to also get freaked out by tornado warnings. I have strong memories of sitting with her in the garage of my apartment building after a tornado touched down.
