I’m trying to repaper the walls of my little room of the internet, so please be patient with me while I test themes, mangle code, and play with the delicate order of the universe. And of course by “me” I mean “Mike.”

Where to begin, where to begin… First I’m going to tell you a little something about mah lady-business (sorry Chris, I know I just lost you) which is that since having my darling daughter my hormones have been extra wonky. A couple months ago I started on the pill to help get things regulated and it has been LIKE A MIRACLE except when it isn’t, which thankfully is far less often than it was before. The thing is that now I get some mystery weirdness every so often that throws me for a loop. Yesterday was one of those times.
I spent the day with ZERO energy, despite my best efforts to get outside with the kids and stay active and I also was short of breath all day. But the real trouble started when my mom came over for dinner and offered to check my blood pressure (which was fine) and do a urine dipstick (she’s training to become a midwife so she has things like this around)(WAS NOT FINE). The results:
Specific gravity: let’s skip the sciency mumbo-jumbo and go with “thick” aka likely dehydrated.
pH: ACID. I AM PEEING ACID.
Blood: Yup!
Not what I was expecting/hoping for to say the least. Blood indicates a urinary tract infection but I was having none of the symptoms so I turned to my second love, Google. Hellooo, Multiple Symptom Checker at WrongDiagnosis.com! Oh good lord this is a Hypochondriac’s dream come true! Turns out I have Dengue Fever. Dang.
So this morning I woke up feeling much better. Apparently I slept off the Dengue Fever. Whew! That was a close one.
* Want to know something funny? I was just doing some research (I know, I know) and saw that a false positive for blood can be caused by exposure to bleach. Guess what I did yesterday? I CLEANED MY BATHROOM!
Either the Kansas City Star is getting a bit lax these days or I’m getting more observant.
Example 1:
I bet it would be fun to live there. Just think how big the apartments would be!
Then there’s this:
That is the UGLIEST dolphin I’ve ever seen.
Today’s musing is in honor of the olympics which I think are almost over (thank goodness). It was a fun ride while it lasted.
So whatever happened to that Bird Flu everyone was so worked up about?
Thank you to everyone who commented on my renaming post, and special thanks to Elizabeth! I liked a couple of her suggestions quite a bit and will promptly send her off a batch of delicious Cranberry Pecan Shortbread Cookies. And by “promptly” I mean “most likely sometime within the month.” Now no one be surprised though if the name doesn’t change for a while, or at all, because that would take some work. I’d have to change the name here and on my Flickr profile and… ah, who am I kidding that sounds like too much work already. A new template is definitely on the horizon though — I’m not feeling this homey, wallpapery look anymore. Cheers!
