Well I sure hope this post was worth the wait because I haven’t blogged in a while. When we go out of town I don’t like to advertise the fact ahead of time in case any crazies out there want to get up close and personal with our house while we’re gone. Probably wouldn’t be a problem anyway though if they met our very protective dog and our “guest” dog staying while we were away. I certainly wouldn’t test those two.
We were in Illinois for a week over the Thanksgiving holiday spending time with my dad, my mom’s side of the family, and some good friends. We did a lot of stuff so I’m going to divide this post up into a few minis so that I don’t make your eyes bleed (too much). May I present the Karr Thanksgiving Spectacular!
We had as much fun as the kids!
We took the kids to the Children’s Museum in Champaign which was WAY AWESOME and also only cost $2 per person. Places in KC could take some lessons from them (I’m looking at YOU Wonderscope — $9 for adults and $6 for kids? WTF?).
The place is a converted theater called the Orpheum and you can peek through some windows to see the old auditorium. The pictures really don’t do it justice, it’s super cool. They want to renovate this part into more museum space. Any philanthropists out there looking for a great project?
Maybe even more fun than the one at the grocery store.
My stepmother, Liane, arranged a pretty fantastic thing for us to do on Tuesday: a horse show! Her friend has a lovely Tennessee Walker named Blue who loves to perform for the kiddos. Nick and I both got to ride him but Zoey was NOT INTO IT. Neither was Mike. In fact he took lots of pictures and never even passed out or threw up once. We were very proud.
Another lovely Illinois sunrise.
I saw a lot of these, unfortunately.
Thanksgiving Day.
All pretty normal this year, no chair-hopping (we cornered the market on chair-hopping crazy YEARS before Tom Cruise). Nick did get into Lydia’s makeup kit but at least he kept it tasteful.
Then there was this.
Thankfully we weren’t traveling that day but it all melted off fairly quickly. The day we did go though… hmmm, something like 150 reported accidents in the area? Not so good.
Vacation is Goooooood.
I’ve got a whole lot more pictures up at Karrmedia.com — go check ‘em out!
